Dr. Leo Sprinkle, Professor Emeritus

Over 50 Years of Research Into ET Contact

Dr. Sprinkle earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He then went on to obtain a Ph.D. in counseling psychology at the University of Missouri in 1961. His first job was at the University of North Dakota, and then in 1964 he moved to the University of Wyoming as an assistant professor of Psychology.

Leo was a skeptic regarding UFOs until he had a sighting of a strange disc during the day. Still somewhat skeptical, he did not fully accept the reality of UFOs until his second sighting with his wife in Boulder, Colorado in 1956. This event prompted him to join the National Investigating Committee on Aerial Phenomenon (NICAP) and become a consultant for the Aerial Phenomena Research Organization (APRO). Both of these organizations had scientists and military as members and consultants. Two well known leaders of NICAP were retired marine Major Donald Kehoe and Admiral Roscoe H. Hillenkoetter, the first Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Throughout the years Dr. Sprinkle has played an important role in the study of UFOs, and helping people deal with their encounters. He was a consultant for the famous Condon Report, a study of UFOs conducted by the University of Colorado for the US Air Force. He has written several papers and in 1999 wrote a book about his findings titled Soul Samples. He has participated in many regional and national television programs, including ABC TV’s That’s Incredible, NBC TV’s Tom Snyder, the Tomorrow Show and has been invited to speak at several international conferences. He is an icon in the field of Ufology and well respected by everyone who is fortunate enough to meet him.

His Ph.D. thesis at Princeton was done in the "Gravity Group," which focuses on experimental cosmology and astronomy, and was headed by Nobel laureate Robert Dicke. Swanson conducted postgraduate work at Princeton and Cornell Universities on the design of superconducting plasma containment vessels for fusion energy systems.
